Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training: Course Description

Our intensive 10, 15 or 20 day Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training courses have been structured to meet the ever increasing demands on industry to meet safety, environmental and legal requirements regarding installation, commissioning, service and maintenance of both refrigeration and air conditioning systems including the electrical aspects of installation dependent upon course selection. The first 10 days of the Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training course are mechanical only, the following 5 or 10 days are the electrical aspects, depending on which route you need to go down.

The Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training courses are accredited with the City & Guilds 2079, Pipework and Brazing – (commercial), along with Flammables.

Our Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training courses are designed to be as practical as they possibly can be, with workshop time taking more than 70% of the course.

During the Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training course, you will, install, repair, fault find, adapt and commission on a variety of different equipment, because we believe the way to learn is to do it!!

Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Course – 10 Days

Sufficient skills, knowledge and techniques to install, pressure test, leak test, evacuate, dehydrate and commission typical air-conditioning units in accordance with the regulations and industry good practice. Also you will gain the ability to be able to maintain, install and repair refrigeration plant.

On completion of the 10 day course, candidates will understand the operation of a simple system and be able to carry out diagnostic, installation and repair work. The following qualifications will be undertaken during the course.

What will be gained in the 10 Day Course?

City & Guilds 6187-21 231/531 Level 2 Award in Brazing Techniques for Refrigeration
This course is designed to ensure that personnel are practiced in the use of special tools and equipment used to install or repair copper pipework in small commercial and split unit air-conditioning systems. It also covers the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act regarding the construction/repair of refrigeration pipework and the high pressure implications of new refrigerants. The course ensures approved standards are achieved. Course notes/record book are provided.

Any person who requires the minimum legal requirement to work on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including air conditioning and refrigeration engineers and technicians, all plant engineers, apprentices, personnel concerned with the recovery, charging or disposal of refrigerants and new comers into the industry.

City & Guilds 6187-21 232/532 Level 2 Award in Hydrocarbon Refrigeration

Air Conditioning Electrical Installer Course – 10 Days

Overview

Prior to course commencement (on the second week of your Total Air Con & Refrigeration course), you will be provided with the necessary pre-course reading material which includes section reviews to check your understanding.

The first week will work through electrical principles, the applicable wiring regulations and circuit constructional techniques.

City & Guilds 7543 – Basic Mobile Air Conditioning can also be gained in the first week, if requested prior to course commencement.

The second week will cover the inspection and testing procedures and applicable building regulations.

City and Guilds 2391-52 Level 3 Inspection and Testing element is optional and will take place over an additional 5 days at a later date and is available at the additional cost of £600 + VAT (a practical assessment is to be arranged after the course completion)

  • City and Guilds 2382-22 Level 3 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • City and Guilds 2392-10 – Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing & Initial Verification
  • City and Guilds 2393-10 Level 3 Applicable Building Regulations

Optional Extras

  • City and Guilds 2391-52 Level 3 Inspection and Testing element is optional and will take place over an additional 5 days at a later date and is available at the additional cost of £600 + VAT (a practical assessment is to be arranged after the course completion)
