This Course covers the Basics of Electricity and is designed to provide a basic understanding of electric principles and to prepare you for subsequent courses related to electrical work.
Upon completion of the Basics of Electricity you will be able to:
Explain the difference between conductors and Insulators
Use Ohm’s Law to calculate current, voltage and resistance
Calculate equivalent resistance for series, parallel, or series-parallel circuits
Calculate voltage drop across a resistance
Calculate power give other basic values
Identify factors that determine the strength and polarity of a current-carrying coil’s magnetic field
Determine peak, instantaneous, and effective values of an AC sine wave
Calculate primary and secondary volatages of single phase and three-phase transformers
Calculate kVA of a transformer

This practical course covers all the commonly used domestic wiring circuits in use today and aims to make you familiar with the application and use of different types of circuit, along with practical construction, inspection and testing of the circuits built. The topics that are covered include the following and are put across in a relaxed way, with trainee interaction encouraged from the outset of the course.

A short course aimed at newcomers to inspection and testing of electrical installations, who possibly require certification to demonstrate technical knowledge and practical ability for entry into a Part P competent person’s scheme and also the logical route towards 2392-10.
City and Guilds Certification is achieved on successful completion of both the practical assessment and PC based examination.

A 3 day short course aimed at anyone involved in the design, construction and inspection and testing of electrical systems, also a nationally recognized ‘must have’ qualification for companies seeking to recruit electricians. This course is intended to introduce the candidate to a working knowledge of the Wiring Regulations along with a brief overview of the Electricity at Work Regulations covering their statutory duties.
