Description

The City and Guilds 2391-50 electrical course has been designed to meet the needs of the electrical installation industry, and is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training before going on to other City and Guilds qualifications.

Candidates who achieve the City and Guilds 2391-50 qualification could progress on to the City and Guilds 2391-51: the Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations.

The City and Guilds 2391-50 course will focus on the teaching and learning of initial verification and certification of electrical installations.

In order to claim the full City and Guilds 2391-50 qualification, students must successfully complete:

One 1 hour 30 minute online multiple choice test to be completed during the course
One 3 hour 30 minute practical test to be completed after the course, broken into two sections as follows:
Task A – Initial Verification and Certification of the Complete Installation – 2hrs and 30mins
Task B – Short Answer Questions – 1hr

To further support this course, we offer a 1 day practical workshop (at the cost of £120.00 Net VAT) available to candidates who have completed the course and require further ‘hands on’ practical experience prior to their practical exam. Most students who take this option elect to complete this the day before their practical assessment.

The City and Guilds 2391-50 course costs include examination entry fees.

Prerequisites

It is essential you have a good understanding of BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations. The course is intended for installers who have a clear understanding of electrical principles and practices of electrical installations. Essentially you will have worked in the electrical industry and it would be helpful if you had an understanding of 3 phase systems. Recommendation that students study a copy of IET guidance note 3 and IET exam preparation, electrical installations (2391) in advance of starting their course.

Something To Think About

There are three different 2391 qualifications as listed:
2391-50: Initial Verification. Intended for learners who wish to verify new installations and perhaps never need to carry out Periodic Inspection and Testing.
2391-51: Periodic Inspection. Intended for learners who have previously gained qualifications in Initial Verification, perhaps through a recognised apprenticeship and wish to expand their skills to include reporting on the condition of existing electrical installations.
or why not complete the 2391-52: Combined Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection and Testing. Intended for electricians who have never gained formal qualifications in inspection and testing or who may wish to update and reaffirm their skills.

Note: course syllabus for

2391-50, 51

and 52 qualifications run in conjunction within the same 5 day period. The end online examination and practical assessment determine the chosen qualification.
