Face Fit Testing
According to the HSE there are approximately 12,000 UK deaths associated with work-related respiratory diseases each year, many could have been prevented if a correctly fitted respirator was used hence the requirement for face fit testing.
Fit testing is a method for checking that an RPE (Respiratory Protection Equipment) is suitable for an individual person who requires to wear dust protection as part of their PPE requirements.
This is a simple test which takes less than 20 minutes
Is this a legal requirement? Yes
All RPE used need to be assessed to ensure they are suitable for the user. A good fitted RPE creates a tight seal between the skin and mask.
