Work at Height Regulations 2005

Falls from height are one of the largest causes of workplace fatalities and major injuries, Common causes are lack of Training and complacency

The purpose of the work at height regulations is to prevent death and injury from these activities

What is Work at Height?

Work at height means work in any place where if there were no precautions in place a person could fall a distance liable to cause personal injury for example working on mobile access towers and MEWPS without guardrails or sufficient means of keeping you and others safe

All work at height must be risk assessed and deemed the safest way to carry out the project by competent people

What makes you competent?

    • A person with sufficient professional or technical training and knowledge, actual experience and authority to enable them to:
      • Carry out their assigned duties at a level of responsibility allocated to them
      • Recognise potential hazards related to the work/equipment under consideration
      • Detect any defects or omissions in that work/equipment
      • Recognise any implications for health and safety caused by those defects and omissions and be able to specify a remedial action to mitigate those implications
