Commercial: Course Description

This Commercial Course is designed for people wishing to upgrade their existing skills to be able to offer customers further services. The course is aimed at tradesmen like plumbers, kitchen fitters, bathroom installers, etc who no longer want to pay an electrician to add sockets, move existing systems or add an extra light switch etc…

This qualification ensures that you are up-to-date with the latest industry regulation on wiring and the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems. It covers the 18th edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, which came into force in June 2008. These regulations are recognised by the British Standards Institute as a British Standard (BS7671).

If you’re a practising electrician, you must comply with the regulations for electrical work, this qualification is designed to provide those seeking progression in their career with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the Electrotechnical industry.

Learn how to test portable electrical appliances with a qualification in Electrical Equipment Maintenance and Testing. Aimed at practicing electricians this qualification will help and progress individuals within the Electrotechnical industry.
A qualification in Electrical Equipment Maintenance and Testing is for practising electricians who want to progress in their career or move on to further study.

This qualification helps you to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to professionally install and carry out initial verification and periodic inspection and testing on electrical installations.

This qualification aims at the specialist knowledge and skills you need, including appropriate legislation, inspection and testing techniques, completing and issuing certificates or reports and understanding of results and measurements. Assessment will be through a multiple-choice on-line test and a practical task.

Intended for experienced electricians who have never gained formal qualifications in inspection and testing or who may wish to update and reaffirm their skills.

City & Guilds 2391-52 course runs over five consecutive days, the first three days covering fundamental theory.
The fourth day covering Initial Verification practical and revision.
The fifth day of the City & Guilds 2391-52 course covering Periodic Inspection practical and revision with an open book 2 hours Multiple choice exam.

It would be expected that candidates have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and principles and experience of electrical installation work either within the electrical contracting industry or an allied trade.

Students will have to reattend and complete a Practical Assessment which is 4hrs and 20mins.

Pre-Requisites

It is essential you have a good understanding of BS7671 IET Building Regulations. The course is intended for installers who have a clear understanding of electrical principles and practices of electrical installations. Essentially you will have worked in the electrical industry with an understanding of 3 phase systems.
